Hi, I'm Amelia.
I’m delighted that you’re here.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’m a certified Functional Nutrition Coach and Occupational Therapist. With seven years of experience in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation, I’ve treated patients with all kinds of conditions—heart disease, strokes, autoimmune disease, neurological disorders—you name it. Everyday, I see the suffering that comes with these conditions, and with one in two Americans having a chronic disease (and one in four having several), I continue to ask why. Yes, genetics and other non-modifiable factors play a significant part, but there’s also incontrovertible evidence pointing directly to modern lifestyle and diet.
Our existing medical model is reactionary, managing disease and disability through symptom suppression, with less focus on prevention or health promotion. I see this disconnect as a call to action. There’s so much value in optimizing our health long before any disease, or breakdown in function. And even with a chronic health condition, lifestyle shifts can significantly improve quality of life.
MY HEALTH STORY
In 2018, I began experiencing unexplained health issues: exhaustion, hair loss, frequent viral infections, anxiety. I visited countless doctors and specialists, all attributing my symptoms to “stress”, saying my labs looked “normal”. With persistence and research, I finally received a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland.
My rheumatologist at the time said the only option was a lifelong reliance on thyroid medication. I initially felt discouraged, but I knew better. I started working with a functional medicine doctor and turned my focus to addressing the root causes of my illness. I learned how to nourish myself through real food, sleep, movement, stress management and mindset. My body began to function the way it was designed to. And now? My symptoms are (mostly) in remission, though as with most autoimmune diseases, they ebb and flow with different seasons of life.
MY MISSION
Through my clinical practice and personal experience navigating my own health issues, I came to recognize the importance and need for holistic nutritional education and wellness coaching . This inspired me to complete additional training and become a coach myself. My goal is to help you live well and optimize your health simply and sustainably.
